Delay in Site Upload
Hey everyone, this is Feupuz. I'm sure you're wondering what's going on with the site. The last two weeks have been unexpectedly crazy for me. As such, I wasn't able to finish uploading the site for last month as planned. The situation has been handled now, so as of now, the site should be up for alpha on March 15th.
Alpha and Beta Timeline
The alpha will pretty much just be the basic look before launch, which will happen for at least a month. After I deem the site to have its look mostly done, I will move it to beta. People will still be able to give suggestions and ideas, but all breeds and foods currently in the database at that time will be shown. The beta will be considered done after most of the breeds and food options have been added along with some other features depending on how much interest is shown.
What will be on the Site
Oh, before I forget, there will be resources to purchase dogs on this site. There will also be adoption resources, but this site does not adhere to the "adopt don't shop" philosophy. Our motto will be "shop responsibly or adopt responsibly." I will be providing red flags for rescues that you should look out for, and this site will not claim that every rescue is a good rescue to adopt from.
There will also be resources on behavioral euthanasia, balanced dog training (including shock and e-collars), the dangers of raw food, and how to research feeding your dog raw food safely, a kibble food finder, reasons why you might not want to get a bully or doodle mix, traveling with dogs in cars, planes, and trains in the United States, alternatives to spaying and neutering, titer tests for vaccines, new vaccines and medicines you might need to be aware of, pet insurance, the true cost of owning a dog, low-cost options for dog care, and when it's time to euthanize a dog due to illness or age.
If any of these topics are dealbreakers for you, you may as well leave now. I want this site to help as many people as possible with as much information about dog care as possible. I don't have an ego so big that I believe every basic piece of information will be here, but I want to do my best to ensure that the statement "All the basics you need to take care of a dog" is true. So we will have pretty much everything. As long as I don't think something is dangerous, advanced, or too specific to one breed, I plan to include it on this site. I'm not advocating for any one particular approach to dog care and will be providing information for all non-harmful forms of care. So again, if any of the above topics are something you are strongly opposed to and you won't be able to use information that discusses one of those topics, I suggest you seek information elsewhere because I want to help as many people as possible.
Now, if you think the information is incorrect or I should include certain information, that's a different matter, and I'm happy to hear about it in an email as long as it's respectful. If you're still here, the alpha explanation is below.
Alpha Information
The alpha will likely last at least a month at this point. I will be figuring out a good format to start with for the pages, colors, and any information that people think should be added, removed, or moved.
There will only be a few pages, so it won't be too overwhelming. The basic pages will be up so we can change the look if necessary. They will all have the same basic format for the most part at launch, but if people think it should be changed, we can change it during the alpha. There will also be just one breed profile, grooming, and food page the first week.
After the first week, I will start using feedback to create different formats and have multiple pages up for the aforementioned pages above so we can figure out a good format for them faster. During the alpha, I will still be adding to the databases, so there are more pages than what will be shown during the alpha.
I will have my email available to contact me and will try to answer some emails every day, but I will let everyone know now that I do work pretty much every day. If anyone has questions, suggestions, or wants to let me know of incorrect information, please let me know at my email.
Thanks for joining me on this journey, and I hope to make this site awesome for everyone who uses it.
